Halloweekend and Christmas in one post?

The PLA took NYC by storm! We were able to meet so many fascinating and inspiring alumni, and make so many great connections! I was able to get to know my cohort, as well as the other two cohorts more personally, while also experiencing the magic of Times Square, Broadway, MSG, the MET, and somehow… Newark NJ. We also saw the most iconic rock in all of history- Impossible to describe you had to have been there!

I am so grateful for the Hintz family, the PSU faculty, and the PLA interns and liaisons who have made this trip possible!

The PLA took NYC by storm! We were able to meet so many fascinating and inspiring alumni, and make so many great connections! Relationships and friendships are so hard to understand, and at even to just make them work. One of the biggest things I asked myself was “why do I change to fit what I think someone else wants? Why not just be me?”. This song explores the push and pull of things I have experienced, and making it has allowed me to begin to make sense of these things.

2 weeks of research, 2 weeks of practice models, and 2 weeks to make 7 final models. Finally, it’s over.
Study Models:
• Whitney Museum by Renzo Piano
• The New York Highline

These models were used to study the interaction between the past and present- the original and the addition.

Model 1: Detail model on walnut base
Model 2: Area model showing continuation of highline
Model 3: Section Model(s) showing a small cut of the building and how the highline interacts with it
Model 4: Interior model displays how light moves through a room with skylights
Model 5: Concept model tells the story and purpose of the construction- how new works around and contrasts with the old

Aberdeen High School’s 2024 Orlando Band trip. I am so lucky to have been a part of this band and help us win all of the trophies for this (national level) competition. Big rounds of applause to @jaiden.rice47 and @philipino_kimchi for their soloist awards! (All awards listed below)
Thank you to the parent chaperones, AHS admin, and ESPECIALLY Ms. Wittman and the Band boosters for making this trip possible!
So many great memories and it was such a fun experience. I love being in band and I am so thankful to my friends who’ve been in it since freshman year pushing me to do something new and out of my comfort zone. I love you all, and AHS BAND FOR THE WIN!!! 🏆 💙💛💙💛🥇
